Unless it's specified otherwise in the event listings, please contact us for more information/ bookings and see our Directions page for how to get to the Environment Centre where most of the events start from or take place. Children are welcome at most events but must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Please contact us if you're not sure whether an event is suitable for children. Saturday 8th June: GIVE OR TAKE DAY

1-4pm at York Environment Centre
Join the annual reuse and recycling fest –  bring your unwanted stuff and maybe pick up something you do want. Things you can give/swap: household and garden items like books, toys, bikes and bike parts, tools, kitchenware, paint (re-usable), bric-a-brac, plants, clothes, furniture.

Please do not give: electrical items; hazardous or toxic items; chairs, sofas or beds without fire safety labels.
There will also be recycled crafts for both children and adults, refreshments and more.

Entry: £1 individual/£3 family.

 

Friday 28th June: PIES & PEAS & GEE-GEES

7-9:30pm at Tramways Club, 1 Mill Street YO1 9PY
No horses will be harmed (or eaten) in this fun event! Come and enjoy:

Friday 12th July: SUMMER MUSIC for St Nicks

7:30pm at The Unitarian Chapel on St Saviourgate YO1 8NQ
The fourth of our 4-part series of seasonal concerts will be hosted by St Saviourgate Unitarian Chapel, which is a wonderful venue for classical music concerts. Details of the programme will appear here as soon as we have them from the musicians who are kindly donating their time and skills to the cause.
Light refreshments will be available. All proceeds will go to the Friends of St Nicholas Fields charity.

Saturday 28th September: SPIDER WORKSHOP

10:30am-3:30pm, meet at York Environment Centre, then the Biology Department at University of York
Learn how to collect spiders on a walk through St Nicholas Fields nature reserve with Geoff Oxford, an expert from the University of York. You will then take your finds to a laboratory at the Biology Department on campus to identify them and take a closer look through microscopes. Places are limited so please book ahead on 01904 411821 or info@stnicksfields.org.uk   Children under 16 must be accompanied.

Entry: £5 per adult/ £2.50 consessions & St Nicks members/ £1 per child (over 12 only). Includes teas & biscuits but please bring a packed lunch and outdoor wear.

This workshop is a joint event between the Friends of St Nicholas Fields, British Arachnological Society and University of York.
