Support our work
Since Friends of St Nicholas Fields formed in 1998 we have:
- transformed a former rubbish tip into a Local Nature Reserve which we continue to improve for the benefit of both the wildlife and York community.
- had our base York Environment Centre built with sustainability in mind. We’ve been developing it as a source of information, advice and inspiration with practical examples of sustainable design and ways of living.
- started projects and services such as our recycling scheme and York Rotters, which help to create sustainable communities.
- provided volunteering and work placement opportunities to hundreds of people of all ages.
- organised numerous public events such as guided walks, junk swap days and volunteer action days.
- been awarded the national 2007 Biffa Climate Conscious Award.
We rely on the continued support of volunteers and members and we could not continue without it.
Please consider some of the many ways you can help:
- Become a Friend - be a part of York’s leading organisation promoting sustainable living.
- Volunteer - help us with tasks in the nature reserve or at the Environment Centre. You will get fresh air and exercise, meet new people, learn new skills.
- Come to our events - members get free entry to our guided walks (as of January 2009 there is a charge of £2.50 adults and £1.50 children).
- Spread the word - subscribe to our email updates and tell other people about our activities
- Make a donation - it will help fund vital work improving the nature reserve and promoting sustainability.
