York Rotters is a growing network of volunteers who provide local, friendly advice and support both to people who already compost and those who want to begin. You can slim a rubbish bin contents by about a third by composting - this will both reduce the amount of rubbish sent into landfill and help your garden (or planters) at the same time. Between the launch of the scheme, in September 2004, and April 2012 we have advised over 12,000 residents through road shows, over the phone and home visits. Composting is really easy once you know how so get in touch with the Rotters officer for more information and composting advice.
